The United Democratic Movement would like to pass its deepest condolences to all families who lost their loved ones in a horrific accident that took place in Aberdeen, a small town in the Sarah Baartman District Municipality of the Eastern Cape, claiming fifteen innocent lives.

This road carnage is one of many tragic accidents which takes place in Aberdeen as there are a lot of stray animals on that road.

Loss of life cannot be normalised, government has to intervene speedily, by putting in place effective measures to curb accidents, such as fencing the N9 road to prevent animals from jumping into cars. We cannot afford to lose people week in and week out in the “Home of Legends”.

We encourage motorists to be extra vigilant when driving, especially at night, reduce the speed and drive responsibly.

May their souls rest in eternal peace.
