President Cyril Ramaphosa when he became president in 2018 promised to cut his cabinet by half, but last night’s cabinet reshuffle is a clear opposite of that.

The United Democratic Movement Youth Vanguard (UDMYV) is once again disappointed by President Ramaphosa who with all his decisions are there to exacerbate the factional battles within his party.

The UDMYV called for more capable young people to ascend to ministerial positions who will bring new blood, fresh ideas and have the stamina to run a mile.

The President’s decision is not putting the interest of the country at heart, building the economy to create jobs and fight unemployment;  instead, it is to secure jobs for his cronies in his party and safeguarding him from being axed by his opponents.

When the country faces the highest unemployment rate in history, and the job sector bleeds jobs daily, President Ramaphosa expands his cabinet.

Furthermore, keeping the trends of recycling ministers, hoarding the old guard lives a bitter taste and leaves a clear indication that he has no interest in not only South Africans, but the youth who are languishing in poverty.

The creative industry has been crying foul without adequate recourse from the incumbent minister however he is still in that ministry continues to do nothing besides being best at sending condolences.

The likes of Ministers Fikile Mbalula and Bheki Cele should have been first to leave as their negligence and incompetence are extremely loud.

The new Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana, still has his pending “smallanyana skeletons” in his closet. What happened and where is the R120 million that was spent recklessly during his time at economic development?

President Ramaphosa has no clue and is not interested in taking this country forward. Better appoint the General Bantu Holomisa in defence zikhale once!
