The much anticipated cabinet reshuffling that is expected to effect changes on certain state-owned enterprises like Eskom and South African Airways may not yield the outcomes of efficient management if the ANC government is still going to second officials that are being handled at Luthuli House, ie:Cadre deployment.
The United Democratic Movement is of the view that these SOE’s if they are to be saved and allowed to sustain themselves by generating viable revenue, appointments of senior officials including CEO’s, COO’s and CFO’s must be based on merit.
This country has been men and women who have expertise and skill to run these state entities, however they are left out because they do not have close links with the ruling party. As a result, people with necessary skills are leaving the country.
President Cyril Ramaphosa must take the nation seriously, get rid of greedy and self-serving Ministers.
