In what is anticipated to be a pivotal moment in South Africa’s history, the UDM has officially launched its manifesto for the 2024 Elections. With the goal of breaking the decades-long dominance of the ANC and combatting entrenched corruption, the UDM aims to prioritise the needs of the South African people and restore integrity to democratic institutions.

The Manifesto Launch provided a platform to articulate the UDM’s stance on critical issues facing our nation and outline our plans to address them. It emphasized the urgency of the upcoming elections and the need for a departure from the status quo that has hindered progress in our country.

Key Points from the Manifesto Launch:
The UDM, a social democratic party, prioritizes decency, integrity, and respect for democratic principles.

Central to the party’s ethos is the promotion of wealth creation among citizens and the restoration of accountability in governance.

Challenges Facing South Africa:
South Africa is facing a multitude of crises, including corruption, economic instability, high unemployment, crime, crumbling infrastructure, and energy shortages. The ANC’s failure to address these issues has led to widespread disillusionment and unrest among citizens.

Corruption:
The UDM condemns the rampant corruption within the ANC, where loyalty is rewarded with protection against investigation and prosecution. The party calls for zero-tolerance for corruption, effective investigation and prosecution of perpetrators, and the establishment of independent anti-corruption task teams.

Economic Policies:
The ANC’s economic policies have resulted in stagnant growth and soaring unemployment rates.
The UDM proposes fiscal discipline, investment in infrastructure, and support for small businesses to stimulate economic growth and job creation.

Infrastructure and Energy:
Neglect of infrastructure and energy infrastructure under the ANC has led to service delivery challenges and frequent loadshedding.

The UDM advocates for infrastructure development, renewable energy initiatives, and partnerships to address energy shortages and improve service delivery.

Crime and Lawlessness:
The UDM pledges to enhance coordination between law enforcement agencies, boost resources for crime prevention, and establish closer cooperation with neighbouring countries to combat cross-border crime.

Environmental Concerns:
The UDM prioritizes environmental conservation, waste management, and sustainable development, aiming to convene a national dialogue to address pressing environmental issues.

Hope for Change:
The upcoming elections offer hope for change, with the possibility of a coalition government ending the ANC’s monopoly on power.

The UDM advocates for a Government of National Unity to rebuild South Africa collaboratively and restore public trust in governance.

The UDM’s manifesto launch underscores its commitment to ethical governance, accountability, and progress. As South Africa prepares for the elections, voters are urged to consider the ANC’s track record of corruption and failure and embrace the opportunity for change offered by the UDM.
