Statement issued by Bongani Msomi
As the United Democratic Movement (UDM), we welcome the sentencing of the eight (8) police officers who were involved in the horrendous assault that led to the death of Mozambican taxi driver Mido Marcia in Daveyton in 2013.
The sentencing sends out a clear and strong message to all other officers and criminals who think they are above the law.
We hope that the justice system will continue to deal with lawbreakers and not be lenient against them. Such people do not belong in our communities.
We hope that the sentence will also be a lesson to other law enforcement officials who abuse their power.
