The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has worked diligently to promote the interests of all South Africans over the years. Despite the challenges and stumbling blocks the party rose to the occasion and scored many political victories. Our successes are manifested in our public representation at various levels of government across the country, but also in the influence we have had irrespective of the ruling party’s parliamentary majority.

The UDM’s vision is to be “…the political home of all South Africans, united in the spirit of South Africanism by our common passion for our Country, mobilising the creative power inherent in our rich diversity, towards our transformation into a Winning Nation”.

The potential is there for South Africa to become this Winning Nation; we need to work together to reach this goal.

Multi-party democracy is vital to our country’s future and the prosperity of all her citizens. The UDM firmly believes that it has an essential role to play in the re-alignment of the South African political landscape and to prove to the rest of the world that a modern African democracy can flourish and her citizens prosper.

South Africa needs the emergence of an alternative government and the first step towards that goal is to peg back the ruling party’s electoral majority – a more equal balance of power in Parliament will curb the growing arrogance, extravagance, and corruption of those in power.

The current system of government funding of political parties perpetuates the dominance of the largest; thus undermining multi-party democracy. In order to achieve the ideal of a truly free and prosperous South Africa, we need funding and other assistance.
