Statement by Yongama Zigebe, UDM Secretary General
The annual Easter pilgrimage to Moria is a time-honoured institution that sees thousands upon thousands of people, from near and far, take to the roads to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is supposed to be a time of deep spiritual meaning and upliftment.
Yet, the congregants, never imagine that their lives would be cut short in any way, as those had travelling, as we understand it, from Botswana to Moria yesterday, 28 March 2024, in the horror bus crash which claimed the lives of 45 passengers on the R518 at the Mamatlakala bridge between Marken and Mokopane.
The United Democratic Movement (UDM) extends our condolences with the loved ones of the people who so tragically perished in this horrific manner, and we will keep them and the child, who is apparently the sole survivor, in our prayers.
May their souls rest in peace.
