Statement by Deputy Minister Bantu Holomisa, MP and President of the United Democratic Movement

The past year has brought positive change in South Africa with the advent of the Government of National Unity and the effective end of one-party dominance. It does not mean our problems are behind us, but it does signal hope for the future of our country.

As we step into 2025, let us recommit ourselves to the ideals of justice, equality, and opportunity for all. Let this be a year where we bridge divides, uplift one another, and work collectively to address the pressing issues of poverty, unemployment, and inequality.

To our communities, leaders, and every citizen, remember that progress begins with each of us. Small acts of kindness, collaboration, and innovation can have a ripple effect, creating positive change that benefits everyone.

Let us also hold fast to the vision of a safer, more prosperous South Africa—a nation where every child can dream without limits, where our diversity is our strength, and where every person can contribute to building a shared future.
