Dear Mr Hlengwa and dear Advocate Mkhwebane
Information pertinent to the work of SCOPA and the Public Protector: investigation into the remarks of President Ramaphosa at an ANC NEC meeting at the end of 2021
1. I refer to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts’ (SCOPA) scrutiny of comments, made in a leaked recording, by President Cyril Ramaphosa at an African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the end of 2021 around public money that was allegedly “used to advance certain campaigns”.
2. I also refer to the fact that the Public Protector is now seemingly involved in the matter not only by virtue of a complaint lodged by Mr Mervyn Dirks, but also by being informed by Scopa that it is dealing with certain aspects of the same complaint.
3. In the same vein I wish to bring to your attention material information that I had submitted, on 23 September 2020, to the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into State Capture (‘the Zondo Commission’) that has bearing on the matter of who the real perpetrators of state capture were, and still are – especially in the context of the President’s latest remarks i.e. the ANC itself. The Zondo Commission had acknowledged receipt of the submission. (Annexure 1)
4. The attached dossier consists of correspondence around the matter of Mohlaleng Media in particular, as a classical example of the ANC’s brazen tactics which might shed light on your investigative processes. The whistle-blowers are still willing to testify.
Yours sincerely
Mr Bantu Holomisa, MP
President of the United Democratic Movement
