The United Democratic Movement Women’s Organisation (UDEMWO) calls for no parole for Aluta Pasile, Nosicelo Mtebeni’s killer. The 25 years and 10 years for defeating the ends of Justice is not enough for this gruesome murder. A life sentence would have been fitting than this slap in the face.

How will the family of the victim feel when they see this animal back on the streets? Whereas they will never get to see their daughter who had an absolute bright future ahead of her. Her dreams of being an Advocate were cut short by that heartless beast disguised as her lover.

Judge Thami Beshe has dismally failed the Mtebeni’s family and the women at large especially during sixteen days of activism, this sentence is utterly abhorrent. The state should have acted fair-minded when dealing with this particular case, because there is a wounded family involved that is still grieving.

South Africa is faced with a lethal disease called Gender-based violence but our Justice System still continues to protect the perpetrators by giving them light sentences and free holidays at Correctional Services Centres, paid by the tax-payers hard earned money.

The least that can be done, is to deny the murderer a parole in this case.
