The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has noted the release of parts five and six of the Zondo Commission’s report and in particular its finding that the African National Congress under former president Jacob Zuma “permitted, supported and enabled corruption and state capture”, and the question whether it could have been arrested had President Cyril Ramaphosa “acted with more urgency”.
The UDM has been vindicated in our long-held view that the erstwhile liberators have long abandoned the original agenda to create a better life for all. It has relegated South Africa to junk economic status; a country where no investor wants to set foot because of the rampant corruption. Starting with Sarafina 2, right up to State Capture. Wave upon wave of civil protests have hit the country, where the people are making their dissatisfaction with the lack of service delivery known and pillaging and the destruction of infrastructure are at the order of the day.
The opposition, civil society and those sober-minded within the ruling party to gather under one roof to discuss the findings and recommendations of the Zondo Commission and to discuss the conundrum that is South Africa’s future.
It is time for South Africans to see the writing on the wall. Come 2024 the voters of this country must change this state of affairs.
